Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday staged a consultation walkout in support of the governorship aspiration of Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo ahead of the party’s primaries.

The procession moved through parts of the council area, including Osengere, Gbagi Market, Iwo Road, Monatan, Olodo and Erunmu, with the participation of party members, local leaders, traders and residents.

Ajadi, who addressed supporters during the exercise, thanked party members for their turnout and support.

He said his ambition is to build on the programmes of the current administration in the state.

Speaking at Gbagi Market, the aspirant also pledged to focus on economic activities, particularly those involving traders and small business owners, if elected.

“I am coming with a clear vision to serve the people of Oyo State. Our administration, by God’s grace, will prioritise traders, artisans and small business owners because they are the backbone of our economy,” he told the cheering crowd.

The event was attended by some PDP leaders in the area, including the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Oyedele Sanda; the Political Head of Ajorosun LCDA, Ibrahim Oladebo; the Chief of Staff to the Egbeda council chairman, Kabiru Siyanbola; and the PDP Chairman in Egbeda, Alawe Olawale Ebenezer.

Hon Sanda, who spoke at the event, said party leaders would consider candidates with visible grassroots support during the selection process.

Alawe also described Ajadi as an active member of the party in the area.

Observers said the walkout is part of ongoing consultations by aspirants seeking support ahead of the PDP governorship primary in Oyo State.
