Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dominate elections at all levels in Kano State, dismissing the chances of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
Yusuf made the statement on Saturday while addressing supporters at the Government House in Kano after returning from Abuja, where he attended the APC National Convention and the party’s Northwest Zonal Congress in Kaduna.
“There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC. As for the ADC, which they moved to, it will never have even a single term,” Yusuf said.
“Kano and Nigeria are solidly behind APC, and APC is the only winning party. Nigerians and indeed Kano people should not be carried away by the euphoria of so-called ADC and other parties,” he added.
Reacting to critics who have labelled him a “one-term governor,” the governor said he is focused on securing a second term under the APC, insisting that the ADC would not win even a single term in Kano.
He urged residents not to be swayed by what he described as the “euphoria” surrounding opposition parties, maintaining that the APC remains the only viable platform for electoral victory in Kano and across Nigeria.
Yusuf also reaffirmed the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu, pledging backing for his re-election bid in 2027.
The governor praised the APC’s performance at both the zonal congress and national convention and assured that his administration would continue to prioritise key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and youth and women empowerment.
He was received by a large crowd of supporters upon arrival at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, with party loyalists lining major roads in Kano metropolis, chanting APC slogans and escorting his convoy to the Government House.
