Organisers of the fifth edition of the ongoing Davnotch Open Tennis Championship in Abuja have revealed that winners of the tournament will smile to the bank with an improved price money.
President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Ifedayo Akindoju, made the disclosure on Wednesday at a press conference in Abuja to herald the week-long tournament.
He said that though the final decision has not been taken on the improved price money for this year’s tournament, the initial N8 million price money has been reviewed upwards.
He said that what is most instructive is that the athletes are competing in line with international best practices, expressing happiness that the tournament has produced athletes making waves across the world.
Similarly, the representatives of the sponsor, Nkem Osu and Ben Anazia, admitted that they have been able to use the tournament to maximise the target they set for themselves.
