Governors urged to ensure impact of record FAAC Allocation

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The Ajisope Development Initiative has called on governors across Nigeria to ensure that citizens feel the benefits of the record revenue allocation distributed by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) for the month of August.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun State, Abdulkabir Ajisope, the founder of the initiative, highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s recent announcement that Nigeria achieved its 2025 revenue target ahead of schedule, largely due to increased earnings from the non-oil sector.

Ajisope noted that the N2.225 trillion disbursed to the three tiers of government is the highest allocation in the country’s history, urging the governor to let people feel the effect. “It is crucial that Nigerians experience the impact of this significant allocation,” said.

He urged governors to invest creatively in agriculture and to align their strategies with the President’s vision of diversifying the economy beyond oil.

“Every state should inform its citizens that they are now receiving substantial amounts from the FAAC. The benefits of this allocation must be tangible,” he added.

Ajisope stressed the importance of investing in agriculture and other income-generating sectors, asserting that this is a pivotal moment for governors to support President Tinubu’s economic reforms.

He encouraged state leaders to “water the ground,” as previously advised by the President, to ensure that these reforms produce positive outcomes for all Nigerians.

The Ajisope Development Initiative’s appeal emphasized the expectation that state leaders will translate federal allocations into visible improvements in the lives of their constituents, particularly as the country moves forward in the new economic climate.
