Nasarawa: Police nab two suspected kidnappers in Doma, recover ₦7m ransom trail

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who have allegedly been terrorising residents of Doma and Lafia Local Government Areas.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 28, from Jalti Village, Dass LGA of Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Isah, 32, from Tudun Alaramma in Doma LGA, were arrested by operatives of the Doma Division on Monday, September 29, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m.

The police said the suspects had been issuing threats through phone calls to residents of Saman Laraba in Doma and Lafia, demanding ₦3 million ransom or risk being kidnapped. Investigations further revealed that several other residents had also been targeted, with some victims already paying ransom.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having extorted between ₦6 million and ₦7 million from different individuals in both Doma and Lafia LGAs,” Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed.

He added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further discreet investigation.

While commending the operatives for the successful arrest, CP Mohammed reassured residents of the command’s determination to tackle crime in the state.

“The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to fighting crime, and we urge residents to continue to provide timely and useful information to the police to ensure a safer society,” the Commissioner said.
