New SDP chairman vows to empower female politicians in Cross River

The newly elected acting chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Cross River State Apostle Dr. Stella Charles Archibong has vowed to mobilize and empower women in the politics of Cross River State.

Dr. Archibong disclosed this following her emergence in a State Working Committee meeting of the party at it’s Secretariat in Calabar.

Dr. Archibong said the SDP is a gender friendly party and her election be characterized with unity and partnerships.

“SDP is a gender friendly party and I’m proud to be the one to pilot its affairs going forward.

“I’m bringing peace, gender equality and everything that is good into the party and we will all feel the effect going forward.

“We are going to push, especially for women to come out, go into election and will ensure the party embraced a lot of women without sidelining men in this dispensation”, she said.

She also said her tenure will be built around unity, partnerships with everyone irrespective without any bias and promised a bring success to the party.

Other officials elected to fill vacant positions include Gabriel Abushie who is the new State Deputy Chairman and also Pastor Dominion Essang who is the Vice Chairman Central.

The State Working Committee of the party also pledged to remain neutral in the brewing crisis facing the party at the national level and rather work towards resolving the crisis and building bridges ahead of 2027 general elections.
