Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele, Hon. Christopher Ewere Okaeben and Hon. Festus Odianosen Ebea, as commissioner-designate for the state.
In the same vein, the Edo State Executive Council (EXCO) yesterday, approved a series of initiatives in transportation, security, agriculture, and infrastructure aimed at improving the welfare of residents and fostering sustainable development in the state.
The EXCO reaffirmed the Okpebholo administration’s commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, security, justice, and Diaspora-led investment.
In a statement, the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, noted that the nominations of the commissioner-designates would be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation.
The nominees brought to 25, the number of commissioners so far appointed by Governor Okpebholo.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohombamu, announced that the council reached “a lot of decisions and approvals in virtually all sectors including education, infrastructure, transportation, and the (overall well-being of the people relating to justice delivery.”
He said as part of efforts to enhance the state’s public transportation system, the Council approved the purchase and supply of 50 brand new Toyota Hiace buses (2024 model) to complement the 100 units earlier procured for the New Edo Line transportation company.
The EXCO also approved the construction and rehabilitation of key roads in the oil and gas-producing areas of Edo State in Orhionmwon, Ovia North-East, and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas, under Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOPADEC).
