PINL’s pipeline surveillance has increased oil production, reduced criminality – Hostcom

From Tony John, Port Harcourt

Niger Delta leaders have affirmed that the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has boosted daily oil production and reduced criminality in the region.

The leaders, under the aegis, Pipeline Host Ethnic Nationality Leaders of the Eastern,  comprising traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, drawn from Abia, Bayelsa, Imo and Rivers states, stated this when they met in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Famous Daunemigha, spokesman for the ethnic nationalities, said PINL has proven to be a key partner in implementing Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in host communities of the Eastern corridor and the wider Niger Delta region.

Daunemigha said: “In recognition of a job well done, we call on the Presidency and all relevant federal agencies to not only renew PINL’s contract, but also expand its scope of operations.

“PINL has proven itself as a key partner in the actualization of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in the host communities of the Eastern corridor and the wider Niger Delta region.”

He further pointed out that at the start of PINL’s operation, crude oil delivery via the TNP was at zero percent due to rampant oil theft and illegal refining.

According to their spokesman, with a mix of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, and in collaboration with government security agencies, PINL tackled the issues of oil theft head-on.

The leaders also stated that beyond securing the pipeline and engaging the youths, PINL has helped in forging peace within the communities by resolving long-standing leadership and communal conflicts, hence allowing previously excluded communities to become integrated into its operational framework.

They, however, warned against any act that would threaten the existing  peace in the region,  reiterating their unwavering support for the indigenous surveillance contractor.
