The Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD) has unveiled Dr. Taiwo Nolas-Alausa as its new Director General/Chief Executive Officer for a 4-year term.
In a statement obtained from the Institute, the President/Chairman of the Governing Council of IOD, Adetunji Oyebanji, said the new DG/CEO would oversee the strategic execution of the Institute’s goals, build on existing partnerships, and lead initiatives to enhance the value of membership, public trust in governance, and organizational sustainability. “On behalf of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, I am pleased to officially welcome Dr. Taiwo Nolas-Alausa as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute. The IOD Nigeria community looks forward to a new era of innovation, inclusivity, and institutional advancement under his stewardship,” he said.
CIoD President affirmed that Nolas-Alausa’s extensive background in human capital development, strategic planning, and leadership training makes him an invaluable asset as the Institute continues to promote corporate governance, ethical leadership, and executive development in Nigeria and beyond. “We are confident that under his leadership, CIoD Nigeria will further strengthen its role as a trusted voice in the Nigerian business community and a beacon for boardroom excellence.”
Oyebanji affirmed that as Nolas-Alausa assumes the responsibility of advancing the Institute’s strategic objectives, he is expected to enhance member value, deepen stakeholder engagement, and champion governance reforms through impactful programming, advocacy, and executive education.
Reacting, Nolas-Alausa said it is an honour to be identified with CIoD. “I am deeply honored to join the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria. This role presents a tremendous opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of corporate governance and the professional excellence of Nigerian directors,” he admitted.
On suitability to run the affairs of the Institute, Oyebanji confirmed that the new DG/CEO has held several strategic roles in his career, most notably as the Director of Business Education Services and Training at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), and Regional Head of Learning & Skills Development (West Africa) at ISON Experiences, where he designed and delivered training programs for blue-chip clients such as MTN, Airtel, Union Bank, Multichoice, and others across Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and beyond.
“The new DG/CEO previously served as a Training Specialist at Globacom Nigeria Limited and held leadership roles in learning delivery at ISON BPO. His vast experience cuts across multiple sectors including telecommunications, finance, education, oil and gas, entertainment, and SMEs.
“An academic and author, Nolas-Alausa holds a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from Babcock University, a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from the University of Lagos.
“He has taught at Lagos State University as an associate lecturer at the School of Part-Time Studies and served as an assessor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He is also Chairman of the Learning & Development Committee of the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Lagos Chapter.
“A highly respected Learning and Development Consultant with over 22 years of progressive leadership experience across Africa, he brings to CIoD Nigeria a dynamic blend of strategic insight, communication expertise, and a deep commitment to institutional growth and capacity building,” Oyebanji added.
Nolas-Alausa succeeds Mr. Bamidele Alimi, who completed his second and final four-year term as the DG/CEO of the Institute on 31 July 2025.
