The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested one suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group and recovered ten cows from him.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
He explained that efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining fleeing gang members and recover more rustled cows.

According to him, “on the 31st August, 2025, at about 1730hrs, acting on credible intelligence, one Salihu Umar, aged 42 years, of Dogon Dutse area of Niger Republic, was apprehended at Bachaka cattle market with ten rustled cows owned by one Usman Aliyu of Zogirma town, Bunza LGA of Kebbi State, whose sixty-eight cows were rustled on the 20th August, 2025, by suspected Lakurawa bandits and crossed over to Niger Republic.”
“In the light of this remarkable breakthrough, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, has commended the bravery and intelligence-led policing strategy displayed by the DPO Bachaka and his men, and charged them to sustain the momentum.
“The CP equally directed the DPO to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for a discreet investigation to be conducted with a view to intensifying efforts in apprehending the remaining fleeing gang members and recovering more rustled cows.”
He said the CP reiterated the unwavering commitment of the command to its ongoing onslaught against violent crimes to maintain peace and stability in the state.
The command appealed to the peace-loving people of Kebbi State to remain vigilant and continue to support the police and other security agencies with accurate and timely information for prompt response.
