NOG Energy Week 2026 to rally global leaders for Africa’s energy security

Global energy leaders, policymakers, and investors are set to converge in Abuja for the 25th anniversary edition of NOG Energy Week 2026, a landmark event aimed at driving investment, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing resilience across Africa’s energy sector.

Scheduled to hold from July 5 to 9, 2026, the conference will run under the theme, “Advancing Energy Ambitions for Competitive & Resilient Economies.” Organisers say the event will go beyond discussions to focus on practical solutions across eight key thematic pillars designed to position Nigeria and Africa as central players in global energy security.

Against a backdrop of shifting geopolitics and evolving supply chains, Africa is increasingly being recognised as a reliable source of oil, gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Nigeria, in particular, is seeking to strengthen its role as a key supplier in a market that is prioritising diversification and energy security.

According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will unveil a comprehensive strategic conference programme aimed at addressing supply stability, infrastructure deficits, and long-term competitiveness. The event will also emphasise strategic partnerships and regional alliances, positioning NOG Energy Week as a hub for deal-making and capital mobilisation.

A major highlight of the programme is its integrated approach to the energy value chain, linking upstream production with midstream infrastructure and downstream delivery systems. This approach reflects the growing need for coordinated development across all segments of the sector to ensure energy is delivered efficiently and at scale.

Organisers noted that while upstream growth remains critical, equal attention must be given to midstream and downstream infrastructure, including processing, refining, and distribution. This is essential to support a diversified energy mix and meet rising demand both locally and globally.

The role of gas and LNGlobal energy G will take centre stage at the conference, with discussions positioning gas as a key driver of industrialisation and export-led growth across the continent. Stakeholders are expected to explore how gas can serve as a transition fuel while supporting economic expansion and energy access.

Technology and innovation will also feature prominently, with a focus on how digital tools, including artificial intelligence, can transform energy systems. These innovations are expected to improve exploration outcomes, enhance production efficiency, and optimise operations, especially as demand from data centres and digital infrastructure continues to rise.

In addition, the programme will include sessions on decarbonisation and renewable energy, reflecting the global push toward cleaner energy sources. These discussions aim to strike a balance between sustainability and energy security in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Organisers said the conference has been carefully curated to deliver actionable outcomes, rather than just dialogue. The Executive Committee behind the event has assembled leading experts, policymakers, and industry players to address key challenges and unlock new opportunities across the sector.

A strong lineup of speakers is expected, including H.E. Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, H.E. Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, and H.E. Dr. Canon Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, alongside industry leaders such as Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari, Proscovia Nabbanja, Jim Swartz, Dr. Ainojie Alex Irune, and Nasir Alfa Mohammed.

Institutions such as the World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) will also participate in high-level discussions focused on unlocking capital and scaling energy production across the continent.

Through initiatives such as the NOG Energy Club and the Deals Lounge, the event aims to foster strategic partnerships and facilitate high-value transactions that will drive the sector forward.

With an expected 7,500 participants, NOG Energy Week 2026 is positioned as a key platform for shaping the future of energy in Nigeria and across Africa, bringing together global expertise, investment, and collaboration to secure a resilient and competitive energy landscape.
