The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has continued to seek support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members to emerge the governorship candidate of the party despite fear that Governor Ademola Adeleke may secure automatic ticket after his defection to the APC.
The governorship aspirant who met leadership and members of the APC in Ife-South and Ife-North during his consultation tour, lamented that Osun has been receiving financial rainfall of over 300 per cent of what it used to receive, yet nothing to show for the humongous allocation by the incumbent government.
While rumour of Adeleke’s defection persists and some key figures in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped the party including two senators from Osun East and Central, there is fear that Adeleke may secure automatic ticket of the APC after his defection.
But, Oyebamiji did not bother as he leadership of the APC in Ife constituency pledged support and massive mobilization for the actualization of his gubernatorial ambition in 2026.
Oyebamiji said the affairs of the state had been practically run aground under the current government as manifested in the poor funding of education, health, infrastructure and keys sectors in the state.
“Today, Osun is earning more than 300 percent of what it used to get and everyone can attest that what is on ground does not commensurate with the massive earning.”
The NIWA boss explained that the state and local governments in Osun have received close to N1 trillion in the last 30 months of governor Adeleke, yet the state has not been able to recruit teachers and health workers to improve the well being of the citizens.
“It is important for us to use whatever comes in as revenue both at the national and state to better the lives of our people. It is essential for us to use our resources judiciously so that our people can benefit from the dividend of democracy. That is my motivation for being in the governorship race,” Oyebamiji said.
He urged members of the party to mobilize people for the Continuous Voter Registration and collection of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) as soon as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins the registration and PVC distribution.
Earlier, former member, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Rufus Ademola Ajibodu, former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi and Chairman of APC local government chairmen, Elder Rufus Awotidoye, declared their support for Oyebamiji.
They described the NIWA Boss as a man of integrity, dignity, humility and competence, assuring the people of the state his capacity to take Osun to the promised land.
“Oyebamiji’s exceptional quality makes him eminently qualified to administer the affairs of the state, particularly now that the President Bola Tinubu federal government is working assiduously to make more money for states to share and take good care of the citizens,” Ajibodu added.
